Dash for Down Syndrome 5k – March 21, 2020 – LeBauer Park – Greensboro NC
|A good race for an important cause.
FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS
On Saturday, March 21, 2020, the Down Syndrome Network of Greater Greensboro (DSNGG), in partnership with Trivium Racing, will host its fourth annual 5K run/walk in honor of World Down Syndrome Day. The 3.21 Dash for Down Syndrome will be held at LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro, and it is a traditional 5K race … with a little something extra! In addition to the finish line at 3.1 miles (5K), runners will dash an extra 0.1 mile to our second finish line for a 3.21-mile finish, signifying the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome that characterize individuals with Down syndrome. The extra dash will be an exciting run, as people with Down syndrome race alongside our runners and walkers with loud cheers and big smiles!
By participating in this event, you have the opportunity to champion for local families of children with Down syndrome. The DSNGG is committed to enriching the lives of individuals with Down syndrome by connecting with new families, providing social and educational opportunities for our members, and promoting awareness and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in our community. The money raised specifically at the Dash will fund the DSNGG’s new “Dash for Your Dreams” Scholarship, which will provide local teen to adult applicants with Down syndrome monetary support to help reach their dreams of attending post-secondary school or obtaining the skills necessary to procure and maintain meaningful employment.
