Race for Rights 5k – October 12, 2019 – Arthur Morgan School – Burnsville NC

This is not your garden variety race, but you’ll be glad you ran it.

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

This will not be the fastest 5K you run this year; almost as certainly it will be the most scenic…

Race for Rights 5k gives you a rare opportunity to run on the trails of AMS and Celo. This is Indigenous Rights weekend; participants may wear red to symbolize the scourge of violence against indigenous women.

The stunning route is also timed to coincide with the beginning of fall foliage season, and takes you over creeks and through the woods. One highlight of the course will be a circuit around a meadow of goldenrod with an expansive view of the Black Mts. The race is a fundraiser for Saponi Stickball.

Event details and schedule

The course is an accurately measured 5K and we will time you but it is not USATF cert and we will not utilize chip timing (you will not PR on this course anyway). No T-shirts (if you are a runner, you’ve got plenty of those). This is just an old fashioned cross-country race. Will have some creative and fun awards.

Parking at the start/finish, 1.1 mile down Hannah Branch Rd from the Seven Mile Ridge Bridge off of NC 80S.
