Santa’s Showdown Asheville – December 14, 2019 – Recreation Park – Asheville NC 28803

The inaugural Santa’s Showdown in WNC will take place on Saturday, December 14 at Recreation Park in East Asheville. This unique event will pit runners representing Elves and Reindeer against each other to establish North Pole supremacy for the coming year.

For those of you who’ve been involved with the WNC running for many years, you may recall the JBL Memorial 5k that featured a fast, flat out and back course on Azalea Road. This new course is somewhat reminiscent of that!

How does this work? Half the entrants will be designated as reindeer and half the entrants will be designated as elves. At the end of the race, the average time of each group (reindeer vs. elves) will be calculated. The group with the lowest average time will be declared the overall winner!

We will also give out special awards to the Top 5 female and Top 5 male elves, and the Top 5 female and Top 5 male reindeer.

Share your team victory via social media with our Virtual Tree – each year we will update this tree with an elf or a reindeer to designate the winner for a particular year. Stay tuned!
