VCU Health Richmond Marathon + Markel Richmond Half Marathon + Richmond 8k – November 16, 2019 – Richmond VA

The VCU Health Richmond Marathon is “America’s Friendliest Marathon” (thanks, Runner’s World!) and with the Markel Richmond Half Marathon and Richmond 8k also taking place on November 16, we’ve got great races and great courses for every runner. Check out a few of the highlights—we can’t wait to see you in November!

Fast, Flat Course with Downhill Finish

Looking for a new PR? Hoping to qualify for Boston? Richmond is a great place for both! With a flat, fast course and downhill finish (not to mention mild fall temperatures) plenty of runners cross the finish line with a new personal best. We’re also a top 20 Boston Marathon Qualifying race, helping you get one step closer to a major running milestone.

Enthusiastic Course Support

Richmond is ‘America’s Friendliest Marathon’ for a reason, and that reason is incredible support from registration to expo, and from race start to race finish. With street art and, river views, historic architecture and beautiful parks, our race routes treat runners to a unique and unforgettable tour of RVA that includes incredible spectator enthusiasm every step of the way. Need more proof? How about junk food, wet washcloth, and even pickle juice stops for a much needed burst of energy along the way to the finish line!

Unique Finisher Swag

All finishers receive a one-of-a-kind finisher medal, as well as our signature fleece blanket! They both pair perfectly well with the riverfront finish festival on Brown’s Island, where you can enjoy pizza and a Sierra Nevada beer on the house! Take some time to revel in your accomplishment, but don’t let your Richmond experience end there. Keep the party going! No matter if you’re a local or from out of town, there’s a whole city to explore!
