My Generation Running Series 2019 – Asheville NC
It’s back for for a second year. An innovative race series with some serious cash prizes.

America’s most innovative running series returns for 2019 with the Mission Health My Generation Running Series. For its second year, the Series will feature five well-known Asheville running events in 2019:
Asheville Hot Chocolate Races (5K/10K) – January 26, 2019
Asheville Catholic School Shamrock 5K/10K – March 16, 2019
Biltmore/Kiwanis 15K/5K – May 5, 2019
Highland Night Flight – July 27, 2019
Asheville Brewing Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K – September 21, 2019There is no registration fee to participate in the Series but runners must compete in at least three of the events in order to be eligible for the $6,500 cash purse, which will be awarded in a ceremony after the final races. Everyone who competes in any of the first three events is automatically entered into the Series.
The Mission Health My Generation Running Series was conceived by local race producer, Greg Duff of Glory Hound Events, as a way to provide a local running race series without the large volume of awards found in other series or grand prix’s. The generational concept solved that issue by awarding prizes in five generations:
Centennials (born 1996 or later)
Millennials (born 1985-1995)
Generation X (born 1965-1984) – Sponsored by Black Orthodontics
Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964)
Traditionalists (born 1945 or earlier)“We are excited to once again partner with Mission Health to produce this Series for our area runners,” said Series co-producer Leslie Grotenhuis of Kick Events. “We discovered over the course of the series last year that it not only created competition within the generations but also new friendships.”
Registration for the first three Series event is open; Highland Night Flight will open on February 1 and the Super Hero 5K/Super Villain 10K at the Asheville Running Experience will open January 15.
