New River Marathon + Half Marathon + 4 Mile – June 8, 2019 – Boone NC
|Ashe County and North Carolina’s High Country, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, are the home of the New River Marathon.
The New River Marathon races (marathon, half marathon & 4-Mile) run along the banks of the historic New River in Fleetwood and Todd, NC.
The New River Marathon courses along the banks of the South Fork New River, one of only 14 American Heritage Rivers in the United States. Over 17 miles roll along the banks of the scenic New River offering pastoral views of the River, Christmas tree farms, and horse and cattle farms. For the miles that wind away from the New River Valley, the course offers a few hills, rolling country roads and \’the most beautiful race venue ever!\’
The New River Half-Marathon has a different feel than the Marathon. The Half is purely a loop course with an uphill start and achieves the two highest elevations of the New River events (3445 ft at Mile 1.7 and 3442 ft at Mile 2.7. After the challenging start, runners will enjoy the long descent and pastoral views of Christmas tree farms, and horse and cattle farms, as well as the New River valley.
The New River 4-Mile may be shorter in distance, but will be every bit as unique, scenic and challenging as the longer New River events.
