Following the Star 5k – December 24, 2016 – Idlewild Baptist Church – Matthews NC

This Christmas Eve trail race is a great way to celebrate what Christmas is all about with the entire family!  Proceeds will go to the Southern Baptist Missionaries through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  Currently 4800 missionaries are serving all over the world. This offering is their sole means of support, allowing them to focus fully on their work and not fundraising.

All participants will receive a t-shirt from Freeset, a fair trade business offering employment to women trapped in India’s sex trade. We are striving to provide our runners with fair trade items that are providing employment for underprivileged individuals. We feel it is our purpose and privilege to be able to help so many during this holiday season!

Why Christmas Eve?!
Lottie Moon, the namesake of the international missions offering, was a hard working, deep loving missionary who labored tirelessly so the Chinese people could know Jesus. Dec. 24, 2012 marked 100 years since the death of Lottie Moon. She died aboard a ship in the Japanese harbor on December 24, 1912. Lottie Moon is a portrait of obedience who influenced thousands to follow her in the last 100 years, going just as boldly, obediently and sacrificially.
