This was a very well-organized race on the grounds of AC Reynolds High School. It was warm for the 9 AM start and I suggested later to the organizers that they move it to 8 AM. The course began with about a mile of hilly paved surfaces in direct sun, followed by about a mile and a quarter of single track trail in shade with a stretch that was quite steep and I suspect most runners needed to walk like me. The last section was through a very large area of tall grasses through which a long serpentine path had been mowed. The ground on the section was rough; tougher in some respects than single track trail because it’s difficult to detect what you’re about to step on.
It was challenging but enjoyable and I’d recommend it for next year. Congratulations to Xungang Yin and Nicole Crane as male and female winners. Results courtesy of Racing Toes.
