Run with George 10 Miler + 5k – May 7, 2016 – Tryon Palace – New Bern NC

Are you a runner and a history buff?  Then this 10 Miler & 5k is the race for you!  This race is part of a weekend festival in New Bern that commemorates George Washington’s spring of 1791 visit to New Bern as part of his “Southern Tour.”  The festival will recreate some of the events that were held for the president during his visit.

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

The races will begin at the gates of Tryon Palace and end at the North Carolina History Center, passing by many beautiful historical sites along the routes. We are proud to introduce one of the only 10 mile runs east of Raleigh, especially one with the task of supporting and preserving the rich history of this beautiful area.

This is a very family-friendly event, and we invite you to bring everyone for the weekend to participate in all of the fun activities! There are plenty of great hotels and bed & breakfasts and several award winning restaurants in downtown New Bern for all to enjoy. The perfect spring weekend awaits!
