Belmont Abbey Rail Trail 5k – April 9, 2016 – Belmont Abbey College – Belmont NC

This 5k will help raise money for the Belmont Rail Trail Project, a project that will build a greenway connecting the Belmont Abbey College campus to downtown Belmont. Greenways are great additions to any community because they encourage healthy lifestyles, reduce the use of motor vehicles, and create a community feel. Families of up to four people get a nice discounted registration.

Please join us on the beautiful campus of Belmont Abbey College for a 5K race to benefit the Belmont Rail Trail project. This is a timed event, but walkers and non-competitive runners are encouraged to participate. This is a great event for families, as the course is around the campus and not on main roads.

Parking is available at various parking lots on campus. The start and finish line is at the end of Wimmer Circle, by the Wheeler Athletic Center. The course runs around Wimmer Circle and offers stunning views of the campus and its iconic Basilica.

The Belmont Rail Trail project is a greenway that will be built beside the railroad tracks that run from Belmont Abbey College to downtown Belmont. It will offer a safe and convenient pedestrian and bicycle connection between the college and downtown.
