Money raised in this 5k will benefit a very important cause, the CJ Foundation for SIDS. The CJ Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises money to support families affected by sudden infant death syndrome, fund research and education programs, and support awareness of the cause.

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

The 7th Annual Peacock Strides for Babies, in memory of Emily “Peacock” Ware, is a 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Family Fun Run benefiting the CJ Foundation for SIDS.

Emily was a healthy, vibrant, and happy baby with red hair that was always blowing in the wind, thus the nickname “Emily Peacock.” She passed away suddenly in June of 2009 at the age of 5 months. Her cause of death was determined as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Funds raised will support research in the hope that the cause(s) of SIDS can be identified and ultimately prevented so that this terrible tragedy never happens to another family.
