Jacob’s Joy 5k – March 19, 2016 – Tanglewood Park – Clemmons NC

jacobs joy 5k

This is a non-competetive, untimed run that benefits a very important cause. Your participation will support the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Foundation, and you will get a fun run, t-shirt, lunch, music, and games in exchange. Kids under age 13 run free!

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

Our son, Jacob Edwin Kratzer, had the kind of smile that could make any day bright and exuded a contagious joy. On March 23, 2013, at only 27 months of age, he went to bed after a fun day spent with his family and friends, and the next day he did not wake up. On March 25, 2013, our world crumbled as we kissed our sweet boy for the last time and Jacob went home to heaven. His death was an example of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC), which occurs when an apparently healthy child beyond the age of 12 months dies without warning and after a thorough investigation, no cause of death is determined.

We have created this event to honor Jacob’s memory and to support the SUDC Foundation, an organization that funds research to help answer the question of what caused Jacob’s death and the premature deaths of so many other children. In addition to working to solve this question, The SUDC Foundation offers much-needed support and advocacy for families who have lost children. All proceeds from the walk will benefit The SUDC Foundation. To learn more about Jacob, the run, and the SUDC please visit Jacob’s Joy website.

Thank you so much for your support of our family and this meaningful cause!
