Dash for Down Syndrome 5K – March 19, 2016 – Elevation Church – Charlotte NC

What an amazing idea to have individuals with Down syndrome “dash” with racers through the final finish line. You’ll be supporting a great cause while spending the morning with some of the very individuals who are so deserving of your support. Last year there was an excellent turnout, with over 600 participants.

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

People with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome, so this race has a little something EXTRA too – Official times will be recorded at the 5K finish line, then runners will go on to DASH the extra 0.11 miles to finish at 3.21 miles, in honor of the 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome present in people with Down syndrome. And if you’re lucky, you may be accompanied through the second finish line by DASHers with Down syndrome to cheer you on and thank you for your support of cognitive research and education programs that will contribute to their ability to reach their own full potential.
