Alpha Phi Omega Table 5k – February 13, 2016 – Cameron Avenue – Chapel Hill NC
|Any race put on by the Tar Heels already has my vote. As an added bonus, your participation in this race will support TABLE, an organization with membership of UNC Chapel Hill students and community members that provides emergency food aid to children in the area. And, of course, taking place on the day before Valentine’s day, all runners are encouraged to wear their best love-themed costumes.
FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS
This is the first annual TABLE 5K hosted by Alpha Phi Omega, Rho Chapter (APO). APO is a co-ed service fraternity that has played an active role in the Chapel Hill and Carrboro community for over 75 years, both doing service in the community as well as fundraising for local charities. APO has recently partnered with TABLE of Carrboro to host this 5K with the aim of raising money for TABLE, bridging the gap between the UNC campus and the town of Chapel Hill, and promoting fitness within the community as a whole.
This year the race will be held on February 13, 2016, with registration and packet pick up from 8:30-9:30 and the race beginning at 9:30. The race will begin and end on Cameron Avenue, between the Old Well and the Campus Y. The race is open to all walkers and runners of any age and ability level, and we encourage all participants to embrace the Valentines day theme and dress up! Immediately following the race, there will be food and kids activities near the finish line available to all participants. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the race go directly to TABLE of Carrboro, NC.
