Frigid 5k Run and Plunge – February 13, 2016 – US Whitewater Center – Charlotte NC

If the hearts and cupids adorning many races on Valentine’s weekend are not for you, perhaps a “frigid” run and plunge is more your style. The event consists of a 5k run followed by a dip in the river at the US Whitewater Center. There will be a bonfire, hot drinks, snacks, and beer waiting for you after the plunge. Crowds of hundreds of runners have participated for the past few years, so get out and join the fun!

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

Get your feet and heart racing as you take the plunge in the Frigid 5k. Warm up with a 5 kilometer run on the brand new Greenway Trail along Whitewater Center Parkway, then cool down very quickly as you leap into the chilly waters of the world’s largest man-made whitewater river.
