Run along the New River on a mostly flat course with only a few significant hills. Check out an interactive map and elevation profile at the race website.

FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS

The New River Marathon’s home is in Ashe County, the Northwestern-most county of North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The New River Marathon races (marathon, half marathon & 5K) start and finish in the historic and charming hamlet of Todd, North Carolina. The start line is on Todd Railroad Grade Rd in the heart of Todd and the finish at the Walter and Anne Cook Memorial Park on the bold Elk Creek, also in Todd.

The New River Half-Marathon also courses primarily along the banks of the South Fork New River. The course offers 11 miles of running along the New River. For the 2 miles that wind away from the flat New River Valley, the course offers two 1/2-mile climbs, 2 long descents, rolling country roads and “the best 13.1 around!”
