MARCH 8, 2016 – A concerned reader reported to me this morning that the Active.com registration race says that this race is cancelled. That’s all I know.
The Mineral City 5k returns to Spruce Pine after an all too long absence. The small town of Spruce Pine has an enthusiastic and involved running community, which makes any race in the area extremely enjoyable. The USATF certified course is the flattest you’ll find in the hills of Mitchell county.

The Mineral City 5K is BACK!!!! March 19, 2016. Downtown Spruce Pine, North Carolina. An afternoon race, this popular run will please the elite racer and the casual runner. The course is outstanding and will include very few hills and plenty of open road racing. There will also be a 1K Kid’s Run at Riverside Park.
