Results of the Elizabeth 8k Road Race – March 21, 2015 – Charlotte NC
|It was a beautiful morning for the Elizabeth 8k in Charlotte. I went “off the reservation” from my home running turf of Asheville NC to visit Charlotte and run this race. I’ve done about a dozen Charlotte races in the past and really enjoyed the relative flatness compared to my typical, hilly western North Carolina environment. I like nothing better than a race that tours neighborhoods with great character and rich history such as the Elizabeth area of Charlotte.
I managed to finish 4th out of 14 in my age group. Congratulations to Alexender Townsend and Alice Rogers as winners of the male and female divisions respectively. Results courtesy of Queen City Timing.

29th annual. Very nice. I want to try this race!
The mayor of Charlotte was there to do the count down and start the race. He has lived in Elizabeth for more than 30 years and says he remembers the first Elizabeth 8k. He asked the crowd if there was anyone who has completed every Elizabeth 8k to date and one woman raised her hand. It’s a great neighborhood race with plenty of cheering spectators. And – principally flat.
