A nice 5k in downtown Hickory for a good cause.
ABOUT ALFA
ALFA was organized in 1987 as a grassroots effort to provide support services to those affected by HIV/AIDS in Burke County. In 1989, with the help of a United Way Venture Grant, ALFA was established as a not-for-profit AIDS Service Organization. ALFA has remained a United Way-funded agency and currently has a staff of nine full-time employees.
Twenty-three years later, ALFA provides case management to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS, prevention education and free HIV testing and counseling in Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, Wilkes and Watauga Counties.

RACE DETAILS
5k Registration until Race Day: $25
All Participants will receive:
- A Short Sleeve Hike for Hope +5k T-shirt and swag bag!
- Access to the pre and post event refreshments, activities, entertainment, and awards!
- Confidence that you are helping ALFA raise much needed funds for HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and education of the 9-county service area.
Timing System: Racing Toes will manually time the 5k run. The Hike for Hope walk is a non-timed event.
Packet Pickup: Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Race begins promptly at 9:30 am. All participants MUST be registered and have received their race number by 9:15 am to participate.
Age Divisions:
There will be an overall male and female winner for the 5k. 1st and 2nd place awards will be presented for each age group:
- 10 and under
- 11 to 14
- 15 to 19
- 20 to 29
- 30 to 39
- 40 to 49
- 50 to 59
- 60 to 69
- 70 +
