I ran this race in 2013, thoroughly enjoyed it and will most likely do it again in 2014. November 22 is a completely uncrowded race date so it’s unlikely you’ll have a conflict. And, it’s a perfect warm-up for your Turkey Trot. The race will be timed again by Right on Time Productions.
FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS
The race begins at 9:00 AM. The Pisgah Pavement Pounder 5k is a fun and exciting event that seeks to incorporate fitness and fun for a worthy cause. The proceeds from the race will benefit underprivileged students at Pisgah High School. Student recipients of the race funds will be confidentially identified by the school social worker. All monies will be used to help students who need food, clothing, and other necessary items for daily living.
The course will begin in the parking lot of Pisgah High School and proceed off school grounds up Pisgah Access Rd. to meet NC 215. Runners will turn left (south) on NC 215 and run to a designated turn-around location (just past the Pisgah High School baseball field). The course will loop back on NC 215 (north) to meet the Canton Recreation Park paved river trail and finally back to Pisgah High School. While there are a couple of significant climbs on this course, the majority of the route is relatively level.
