Tryon Half Marathon – November 15 2014 – Tryon NC
|
A great race with a beautiful course and a very strong turnout in 2013.
FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS
The Tryon Half Marathon is the perfect course for first-timers and those who appreciate a softer surface without going fully “trail!”
It will be hard to find a flatter, more scenic mountain course than this one. Fall temperatures and a mostly packed dirt/gravel course that meanders along a riverside through Tryon’s famous “horse country” are all that is needed to make this an unbelievable 13.1 experience.
THE COURSE
The out-and-back course will begin on Harmon Field Rd. making a left onto Hwy 108 and right onto Clarence Rhodes Road, then to Scriven Road, and down River Road and there will be a turnaround to follow the course back to 108. The course will go back LEFT onto Hwy 108 then right onto Howard Gap and enter Harmon Field via the “tomato fields” trail (Cane Brake) on the left to finish at the track. Course is 25% pavement and 75% packed dirt/gravel.
We are removing the “medium hill” and participants will enjoy a flat, downhill, then flat finish at scenic Harmon Field!
