VeteRAN Jam 5k – June 22, 2014 – Fletcher Park – Fletcher NC
|We all have plenty of racing options these days, but I’m going to give a personal push for this one because of the cause that this race seeks to help. The organizers have long term plans for this race and its mission to help those with PTSD. I commend them for that.
In May of 2013, our community lost Cpl. Joshua Alexander McArdle, friend, son, brother and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. In memory of him, we as a family have created VeteRAN Jam. Our long term goal for the VeteRAN Jam is to help the many veterans like Joshua that struggle to live with their PTSD each and everyday. We want to encourage those suffering to seek help and reach out to other families who have experienced similar loss. For this year’s inaugural event, we’d like to use the proceeds to purchase a memorial piece that may forever stand in the Fletcher Recreational Park in remembrance of Joshua and our veterans alike.
The race starts at 2 PM. There will be music, kids activities and food vendors. Register online at Active.com, visit the race website and the race Facebook page.
