This is a great pair of races held in conjunction with an all-day festival in the lovely town of Brevard. I’ve done the Firecracker 10k several times (and the White Squirrel 10k held at the same location) and have always had a great time. NOTE: All active military run FREE in all of the Brevard Rotary races.
FROM THE RACE ORGANIZERS
The 2014 Firecracker Race/Walk and Fun Run is designed to accompany the all day downtown festival. For several years the festival always gets started by this event. Later in the day music, food, dancing, kid fun games, tours, crafts, art and much more fill the cool mountain air in one of the picturesque little towns in western NC. The race course starts at Brevard College, meanders through Main St., neighborhoods, river banks, pastures, corn fields and while viewing mountains and of course the National Forest. It is a family friendly event, one that takes at least a weekend to accomplish. For extra excursions to hiking, mountain biking, swimming, tubing, picnicking, cookouts and more, just stop by our local Chamber on Main St. for more info.
