The Sunset Stampede 15k + 5k – September 27, 2014 – Asheville, NC

SEPTEMBER 15, 2014 – 4:05 PM – I was just notified by Randy Ashley, race director for the Sunset Stampede that the race has been cancelled. There has been a recent road closure on the course and he had not received approval from the city for a new course and no no option but to cancel the event. All pre-registered runners will receive a refund. Randy is working with the race registration company to handle the refund process.

It’s back again with a new date and time. This classically challenging pair of races is scheduled for September 27, 2014 at 8 AM. That should make for a nice, cool setting. I’ve run the old 10 mile version of this race four times and it was always fun. While it is quite challenging on the uphill climb it really is just about “all downhill from there.”

Race Starts on Gertude Place and finishes in Grove Park at 338 Charlotte St and Macon Avenue

Packet pick up and race day registration is from 6:45-7:45 a.m. in Grove Park, 338 Charlotte St. Online registration closes September 25th at 12 a.m.
