FROM THE ORGANIZERS: RACE OVERVIEW AND DESCRIPTION
The Nantahala Hilly Half Marathon / 5k presented by The Nantahala Outdoor Center is an entire weekend of fun that includes adrenaline pumping white water rafting, trail running, hiking, zip lining, amazing food and beer. Come join for one or all of those. Sean Run Bum Blanton has come up with another breathtaking and fun course.
Nantahala is the Cherokee word that means “Land of many uses”. The Nantahala River and area is rich with history and mountains. Don’t just come for the race or come for the route. COME FOR THE AREA, THE PEOPLE AND THE HISTORY!
The race itself starts at 9 am Saturday April 5th from the Nantahala Outdoor Center. The route will consist of approximately 60% trail/single track and 40% jeep road. You will run by some water falls, the Nantahala River, see some really amazing mountain views and run some pretty epic single track. If you like scenic beauty when you run then this race is for you!
We will have 3 aid stations for the Half Marathon and none for the 5k. THIS IS A CUPLESS RACE! We are a green event and try to have AS LITTLE environmental impact as possible. This means if you want water or any liquids from the aid stations then you need to bring a bottle or cup to fill.
Online registration is available at Ultra Signup.
