Loveland, CO’s Dane Mitchell (4:45:54) put the hammer down on the upper trails to power away to the overall men’s title, ahead of local Black Mountain runner Shaun Pope (4:57:33) and Jonathan Allen from Simpsonville, SC (5:24:36).
In the Women’s Challenge, Aliza Lapierre from Williston, VT broke into the top 5 overall with her winning 5:35:45…ahead of Columbia, SC’s Anna Battiata (6:03:28) and Chapel Hill’s Rachel Kelly (6:18:23)
In the Black Mountain Marathon, it was local standout Matt Roane coming from behind on the descent to take the overall men’s win in 3:24:07 and perennial local top finisher Keelin Schieder hammering home for the women’s marathon title in 3:38:32.
Both races saw over 450 registered with 336 official finishers.
