I can attest to this race since I ran the 8k in 2012. It’s a really nice course. It’s a peaceful and scenic setting, with rolling hills and a lot of shady sections. The 8k goes around Lake Lanier and there are some nice views along the way. It just had a good vibe; that’s the best way I can describe it. I recall having a friendly duel with another guy for about the entire second half of the race. I managed to prevail – I guess it was those few extra Cheerios I had before the race. We high-fived each other afterward and were happy to learn that we were not in the same age group (I won mine and he won his).
In addition to the 8k race (known as the “ache”) there is a 2 mile race called the “ouch.”
One more big plus for this race – it’s leashed pet friendly.
