Rock the Quarry 5k – September 21, 2013 – Black Mountain, NC

SEPTEMBER 13, 2013 – I had the chance to review the new 5k course with the race organizers and it’s a great course. The four mile course that had been used in the past had a grueling uphill pull that was not “runnable” for many people (like me). This new 5k course is challenging, but completely runnable.

Rock the Quarry is part of the Asheville Track Club’s Grand Prix Series this year. It’s a new distance – in previous years it has been a four mile race with a tough uphill climb around mile two. This year it’s a new 5k course without that big uphill pull. And, it features a pass directly through the Quarry itself – a first for this race.
