Blue Ridge Classic 5k – April 19, 2013 – Reynolds High School – Asheville, NC

A great Friday evening (6:00 PM) fund-raising 5k held in conjunction with a track meet that begins the following day. Here’s a description from the race organizers:

The Blue Ridge Classic 5K Mountain Challenge is held Friday evening in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Classic Track and Field Meet which is held the following Saturday. The 5K Mountain Challenge is open to the general public with the exception of high school athletes competing in Saturday’s Track Meet. The course is fun, scenic and challenging with numerous climbs. Start and finish on the rubberized track in Dalton Stadium, Olympics-style, with the crowd cheering you on, and in between, run on grass fields, wooded trails and sections of roadway.
