Sleigh Ride 5k – December 15, 2012 – Asheville Christian Academy – Swanannoa, NC

A 6:00 PM, luminary-lit cross country race at the Asheville Christian Academy. The race is sponsored by and benefits the school’s cross country team and the course is described as ‘flat to gently rolling over varying terrain.’  Sounds like a pleasant event, but let me point out what puts a capital ‘P’ in ‘Pleasant’ : CASH PRIZES.

That’s right, there are cash prizes for the top three male finishers and the top three female finishers. The amounts haven’t been finalized yet, but should be in the next few days and I’ll put out an update when they do. Also, there are three deep awards (not cash) for five-year age groups – pretty impressive. It’s just $25 if you pre-register or $30 on race day.

To register, download a Sleigh Ride 5K Entry Form. NOTE: the entry form says “all entries must be received by December 3, 2012” but that is a mistake.  Entry fee is $25 until race day, then it’s $30.  Register by December 10th to be guaranteed a shirt.
