Results of the Brevard Reindeer Run 5k – December 1, 2012 – Brevard, NC
|It was great weather this morning for an early December race. Temperature was in the low 40s and sunny. The location for the Brevard Reindeer 5k is perfect, right in the middle of downtown Brevard. Lots of runners, spectators and local resident milling around makes for a nice atmosphere. We lined up at the start and there was a group of about 20 youngsters lined up in front with shirts labeled “Edneyville Joggers” from Edneyville Elementary School. I love to see some many young runners getting involved but I also make a note to watch out for sudden stops – it’s not uncommon to have youngsters sprint off the starting line at a 6 minute pace only to stop cold with no brake lights in about 150 yards. But the course was wide enough to allow plenty of weaving and this was a great event for runners of all ages.
Congratulations to 17-year-old Tommy Connell of Penrose, NC as first overall and first male. Congratulations to 26-year-old Lisa Busche of Wauwatosa, WI as first female. Following are overall results, courtesy of Setup Events.
