Black Mountain Championship Trail 5k – November 10, 2012 – Montreat College
The trail at Montreat are a terrific location for the inaugural Black Mountain Championship Trail 5k. A cool November morning should make for a great race. And CASH prizes – that should attract some of the ‘big dogs.’
From the race organizers:
- An AWESOME 5K Trail Run on The Montreat College Cross Country Course. Come out and have some fun! The race starts and stops at the Black Mountain Recreation Park.
- This first annual 5K trail race will benefit The Empowered Child Care Center in Asheville.
- FREE Kid’s 1/2 Mile Fun Run at 9:30 AM
- There will be prize money for the top 3 runners – $150 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place and $50 for 3rd place.
- There will be race t-shirts for all!
- Prizes for top 3 in each age group and a free raffle for a pair of shoes (both men and women).
- The Black Mountain Ale House will provide specials for runners on race day. Just remember to bring and show your bib number!
- Register early for just $20 – price goes up October 27th at 6pm.
- Packet pick-up will be Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November 9th at Black Mountain Running Co. from 5-7pm.
- Race Day Registration will be available on Saturday, November 10th at 8:00-9:30 at The Black Mountain Recreation Park.

According to a post on their Facebook page this past Friday, the race starts at 10 AM. If you want to double check, I suggest you e-mail Peter Ripmaster (the owner of Black Mountain Running Company and director of the race) at ripmaster44@gmail.com.
What time does the 5K race actually start? Fun run is at 9:30 but packet pick up is from 8-9:30am.
