Vance Rocket Run 5k – November 10, 2012 – Vance Elementary School – West Asheville, NC

This is a terrific race through West Asheville neighborhoods and it’s part of the Asheville Track Club Grand Prix Series. I ran this race in 2010 and loved it. Registration opens August 27, 2012. Here’s more information from the race organizers:

Race proceeds benefit the Vance Elementary Parent Team, which is a 501(c)(3) charity. The Vance Parent Team is an active group of parents and faculty members working together to provide quality education for our children. Examples of Parent Team projects include Vance Peace Garden development, teacher grants, Teacher Appreciation week activities, and operating the Afterschool Enrichment classes.

The 5k course starts and ends at the school and takes you through residential streets of West Asheville.

The Kid’s Comet Dash, a 1/2 mile fun run entirely on school grounds, will be held after the 5k (10am). There will also be other track and field events (long jump, 50 yd dash, etc.) to get the kids on the move.
