Southcliff Black and Blue Classic Trail Race – October 27, 2012 – Asheville, NC

I’m so happy to see the return of this race, which took a year off in 2011. I’ve done it three times (the ‘Black’ course – the long one) and it’s always been one of the most pleasurable events. It’s a challenging pair of races at a beautiful venue with terrific atmosphere and post-race festivities.

Here’s information from the race organizers:

The Southcliff Black & Blue Classic returns to the Western North Carolina running calendar on Races, Saturday, October 27 at 11:00 am. Runners who have raced here before can expect much of the same as past years, with unique courses on private roads and trails, incredibly fall foliage, amazing views, a post-race that includes lunch and beer, and the most generous awards in the area.

The event consists of two races: The Black, which is 6.5 miles and The Blue, which is 2.6 miles. Both races have a mixture of trail and road in the first mile then groomed trail or gravel road for the balance of the race.

The Black race will begin at 11:00 AM and the Blue race will begin at 11:05 AM. Both races start from the security building at the main gate.

Online registration is available at imAthlete. For more information, visit the race website.
