This year marks the 24th running of the Sourwood 5k in Black Mountain. This popular race attracted more than 200 participants in 2011 and is part of the Asheville Track Club’s Grand Prix Series.

This year (2012) marks the 24th annual running of the Sourwood 5k, a premiere running event that is part of the Sourwood festival. Also returning this year is the Cheshire Pump & Run where participants can earn deductions off their 5k time for doing bench presses pre-race.
The Sourwood 5k starts and finishes at the beautiful Cheshire Fitness Club in Black Mountain, NC.
The 5k takes place on well marked/supervised course. Perfect for all competition levels.
All runners (including Pump & Run competitors) are eligible for the Open 5K awards based upon their actual finish time.
Pump & Run athletes are also eligible for special awards based on their Pump & Run time.
