Run on the Wild Side 9k Trail Race – June 2, 2012 – NC Arboretum – Asheville, NC

If you haven’t run this race before it will probably be your 9k PR. After all, when was the last time you ran a 9k?

I ran this in 2010, the inaugural. I run often at the Arboretum and when I saw the course map I knew it wasn’t going to be an 8k. It was a 9k so last year they called it a 9k.

The course is some pavement, gravel road and double track trails. There’s a moderately challenging double track hill about a mile and a half in and there’s a long gradual uphill pull in the last mile, mostly on pavement.

Here’s a course map we created (click to view a larger version):

From the race organizers:

Rolling hills throughout course on scenic Bent Creek Blue Ridge Parkway overlook. Wooded and peaceful environmental experience. Walkers and runners are both welcome to participate. All proceeds go to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

Please note that packet pickup will be held from 4-7pm on June 1st at Biltmore Baptist Church (35 Clayton Road Arden NC). Race parking will be at Biltmore Baptist Church also. Participants will ride a shuttle into the Arboretum. Please come early and allow time for the shuttle so that we can start the event on time.
