Dupont Forest 12k Trail Race – March 24, 2012 – Brevard, NC
|
This is a great, not too difficult 12k (7.4 miles) trail race. Mostly double track, not too much single track and some forest service roads. It has a great start – mostly flat to downhill for the first couple of miles. And since the race starts at 10:00 AM you can sleep in and still have plenty of time to get to DuPont Forest. This race has my favorite post-race food – thanks to Doc Chey’s Noodles, and is part of the Asheville Track Club Grand Prix Series.
This will be my sixth running of this race. I hope to see you there.
The race starts and finishes at Guion Farm parking area. Here is a map:

And here are directions:
DIRECTIONS TO DUPONT TRAIL RACE
Take I-26 to Exit 40 (the airport), and take highway 280 to Pisgah Forest. Turn left on US 64 in Pisgah Forest. Travel east on US 64 for 3.7 miles to Texaco station in Penrose. Turn right on Crab Creek Road and continue 4.3 miles and turn right on Dupont Road. Go approximately .5 mile, then left on Sky Valley Road. Go approximately 2 miles to parking lot on right hand side. Registration, packet pick-up, and race start are all here.
Online registration is available at IMAthlete.
Eve & Bart – it was great to see you and I loved meeting Shadow – what a sweet dog. It was amazing how the weather cleared this morning just minutes before the race started and it stayed sunny (a little warm actually).
I had a blast – it’s surprising how quickly a 12k trail race can go by, especially when there’s muddy trails. You spend so much time watching your footing that before you know it, you’re done.
Thanks for your compliments about the blog. It’s input like that that makes me keep doing it. I look forward to seeing you guys soon at another race!
