Tails and Trails 5k – November 19, 2011 – Buncombe County Sports Park – Asheville, NC
A nice 5k at Buncombe County Sports Park (58 Apac Circle Asheville, NC 28806). Race organizers report that the course will be certified and there are cash prizes – $100 for first place male and female.

Support your community by registering today for the Fifth Annual Tails and Trails 5K! Join your friends and neighbors as we run at the beautiful Buncombe County Sports Park. The Timed 5K Run will be at 8:30 a.m and a 5K Fun Run/Walk for dogs and their owners at 10:00 a.m. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Asheville Humane Society and the Buncombe County Sports Park.
Please note that the course has been measured by a USA Track & Field Professional and will be certified 30 days prior to race day. All times for the 8:30 a.m. race will be official. There is also a $100 cash prize for first place male and female in the 8:30 a.m. race. Please note that all dogs must be on a leash and have current vaccinations for the 10:00 am Run/Walk.

Oh. You commented on Lee doing the timing before I did. Oops…
Shortly after your post, I got an e-mail from Ms. Stevermer. My e-mail to the Parks Dept. had been forwarded to her. The race is chipped, and timed by Lee out of Morganton. There is no prior day packet pickup.
So, do you know ANYTHING about this race? I’m registered, and have tried to get some details (like how it’s timed and whether there is early packet pickup), but I have received no response to any of the (somewhat voluminous) e-mails I have sent to the a variety of people at Buncombe Co. or AHS. Race organization seems less than optimal…
And, since the author of this blog knows Everything about Everything having to do with racing in WNC and environs, perhaps he will have these elusive data.
