Lake Logan Triathlon – August 6, 2011 – Canton, NC

Good luck to my son Patrick who is planning to compete in the Lake Logan Triathlon. Here’s a description from the race organizer:

In just six years, Canton’s triathlon at Lake Logan has become one of the premier races in the southeast, attracting athletes from across the country. This weekend’s multi-sports festival – which includes the original international-distance triathlon on Saturday, a sprint-distance tri on Sunday and an aquathon also on Sunday – will bring some 700 athletes and their family and friends to Haywood County.

“Lake Logan may be the most beautiful triathlon venue in the country,” said Greg Duff, president of race producer Glory Hound Events. “The swim in this pristine mountain lake has a unique course starting near the main docks but finishing under the highway bridge in the mouth of the river. The bike course is unusual for the mountains in that it is mostly flat and very fast. The run course is an out-and-back along a two-lane road along the river. Its slight grade on the outbound leg almost guarantees a negative split on the downhill inbound leg.”
