This is a nice race in a beautiful location, not too far from Asheville. The course is partly flat, along the land near the lake. Some of the course goes up into the local neighborhoods. There is one fairly difficult hill on the course. 10K runners get to climb that hill twice, because the 10k course is essentially the 5k course run twice, the second loop being run in the opposite direction.
I didn’t hear any runners complain about anything, which is a good sign.
I think that race organizers should consider having the course measured and certified. It’s a worthwhile event, with both 5k and 10k options. I hope to see this race continue year after year.
