The Power of Pink Relay and Four Mile Run – October 30, 2010 – Haywood Regional Health Center
|
A great racing event for a very important cause. Detailed information from the race organizers …
On behalf of all those involved with this event and the women who will benefit from it, thank you for participating in the 4th annual Power of Pink. Below is important information regarding your specific race. Please read it carefully as it will allow you to enjoy the event more fully.
The Pink Relay – Start Time: 8 a.m.
Late registration and packet pick up will be held on Saturday, October 30 from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. in the gym. We ask that only the team captain come to the table and pick up the shirts, bibs, bags and bracelet for the team on either day. This will reduce the crowding at the table and the amount of time needed to process each team.
On race morning, each team will be provided an area inside the gym where they can meet and place their clothing. This area will be on the other side of the curtain from the registration area. The team area will be marked by a sign on the wall. Please be courteous to your fellow competitors by staying within your area. The gym will be open during the races so we don’t recommend leaving valuables unattended.
The route for this year’s race will again be a single loop starting and finishing in front of the HRMC Health & Fitness Center. There will be three water stations on the course and volunteers to point you in the right direction along the way.
The first leg will start in a parking lot below the fitness center and finish near the front door. All of the remaining legs will start and finish near the front door. Each team will be provided a bracelet with your team name on it. This is your baton. Each team member should wear this during their run and hand it off at the exchange to the next person.
Splits for each leg will be taken and recorded on a tote board in the fitness center that will allow everybody to keep up with the teams. A final time will be recorded for each team and used to determine the results. In order for the times to be accurate, race bibs must be worn on the front and be visible. If we can’t see your number, your split or final time will not be recorded.
Race bibs will show both your team number and leg number. For example, the first runner of Team 1 will have the number 1-1, the second runner 1-2, and so on. Should you decide to change the order of your team, please make sure the correct runner has the correct bib. It is not necessary to notify us of the change, unless you are replacing one member of your team with one not yet registered.
There will be a mandatory meeting of all teams at 7:45 a.m. inside the gym on the team side of the curtain. We will give last minute instructions at this time.
Following your leg, you are welcome to go to the tent near the finish area for post-race food and drink. We ask that only race participants be in the tent.
The awards ceremony will start at approximately 11:30 a.m. and include both the Pink Relay and the Pink 4 miler. The top 3 teams will receive pottery made especially for the event by Mud Dabbers Pottery.
The Pink 4 Miler – Start Time: 9:30 a.m.
Late registration and packet pick up will be held on Saturday, October 30 from 6:00 to 9:15 a.m. inside the HRMC fitness center gym. Here you will pick up your t-shirt and race bibs. Bibs should be worn on the front and be visible to the timers when you cross the finish line. The race will start in the parking lot below the Fitness Center and finish by the front doors. There will be separate finish chutes for the Pink Relay and Pink 4-Miler. Each chute will be marked. There will be three water stations on the course.
Following your leg, you are welcome to go to the tent near the finish area for post-race food and drink. We ask that only race participants be in the tent.
The awards ceremony will start at approximately 11:30 and include both the Pink Relay and the Pink 4 miler. Overall awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers and the top male and female master’s finishers. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group.
Bubble Gum Fun Run/Walk – Start Time 11:00 a.m.
Late registration will be held on Saturday, October 30 from 6:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the HRMC fitness center gym.
The run/walk will start and finish in the parking lot below the HRMC Health & Fitness Center. A special vehicle will lead the event and there will be signs along the course to point the right way. Each participant will receive a recognition token for taking part in the event.
General Information
Parking will be available throughout the hospital and fitness center parking lots, with the exception of the spaces immediately in front of the fitness center and two small areas below it. In addition to the numbered bibs, we will have Honor Bibs available for anyone wishing to honor someone who has battled or is battling cancer.
Finally, this event would not be possible without the generous participation of sponsors throughout our community. Some of these organizations will have tables set up in the gym during the event while others will have people participating in the events. Please take the time to stop by and visit with them on race day and thank them for their support.
