Run for the Horses 5k

NOTE: THIS IS PART OF THE ASHEVILLE TRACK CLUB 2010 GRAND PRIX SERIES

I ran this last year and it’s a well-organized Sunday afternoon race for a very good cause and features a nice downtown/Grove Park course. If you run the Asheville Citizen-Times Half Marathon the day before this, part of the course will look familiar.

From the race organizers …

Hope for Horses works with animal control in Buncombe and surrounding counties by assisting in rescues and providing valuable rehabilitation and adoption services throughout Western North Carolina. Our goal is to find quality homes for the many unwanted, neglected and abused horses in the WNC area.

The 4th Annual Run for the Horses 5K Run & 1-Mile Fun Walk & Dog Parade will be held on Sunday, September 19 at 2 p.m. in historic downtown Asheville, NC. Registration will take place in the Buncombe County Health Department parking lot at 35 Woodfin Street across from the YMCA.

Runners and walkers can preregister and pick up their packets at our promotional event on Saturday, September 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus, 1856 Hendersonville Road, and again on September 17 beginning at 4 p.m. at Black Dome, 140 Tunnel Road.

For more information, visit the Race Organizer’s Website. Online registration is available at All Sport Central.
