Run to the Rock 5k

OK, it could be worse. Look on the bright side – the race only goes to the parking lot, not all the way to the rock itself. And, it’s only a 5k – imagine it it were a 10k. See. It’s getting easier. However, the brutal reality is the race is pretty much all uphill.

Commentary from the race organizers …

The 5k Run begins at 8:00 AM just outside the entrance to Chimney Rock State Park as runners wind their way up to the top. The finish line is sure to be a spectacular sight as runners try to conquer the 7% grade to the top of Chimney Rock State Park.

Try? Come on. We’re runners – we don’t try. We do it. It might not be pretty but we’ll get it done. I did this last year and it was a lot of fun. The best part was the kiddie pool full of ice water and towels. Slap one on your head for instant relief.

This race is part of the Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad. Online registration is available at Setup Events
