Bele Chere 5k – July 24, 2010 – Asheville, NC
|
NOTE: THIS IS PART OF THE ASHEVILLE TRACK CLUB 2010 GRAND PRIX SERIES
This is one of the Asheville classic races, attracting out of town speedsters, scores of Asheville Track Club race regulars and the courageous beginning runners who train for weeks and celebrate their success by participating in the Bele Chere 5k.
This race starts at 8:00 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at McCormick Field. The race attracted more than 1,400 runners in 2009 and is expected to attract about 1,600 runners in 2010. It’s a crowded start but the wide stretch of Charlotte Street provides ample room for the early race jockeying for position. What I like best about this is fact that the final stretch of the race (nearly a mile) is flat and then downhill to the finish. You can look good with your head up high and a strong stride.
Cost of the race is $25 up until July 9th and $30 thereafter.
