Karen Chavez Completes the San Diego Marathon in 4:05:14
|
Asheville’s Karen Chavez, avid runner who keeps us up to date on the local running scene on behalf of the Asheville Citizen-Times, completed the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon on June 6, 2010 (her birthday) in an impressive time of 4:05:14 (that’s a 9:22 pace folks). Let’s give a big shout out to Karen who was 1,991 out of 10,625 overall finishers, 592 out of 5,505 females and 64 out of 609 in her age group. Great job Karen!
And while we’re at it, I noticed several other local runners ran the race. Another shout out to Spencer Butler, Justin Grossman, Scott Lebensburger and Trent Duncan!

Wow, Dennis, what a surprise – and an honor – to be mentioned in the Carolina Runner! That is very kind of you! I feel famous now.
I was there with my friends from Asheville Spencer Butler, who also had an awesome finish in the marathon, and Eleanor Thompson, had an equally awesome race in the Half Marathon.
It was hot and it was tough, but now looking back, it was fun.
Thanks for all your great blogs, Carolina Runner!

Congratulations on a great finishing time and I hope you had a great birthday. I’m sure I’ll see out there at a race sometime soon. Cheers.
Way to go, Karen. You make us all proud! And, envious!
