Results of the 2010 Run for the Hills 5k
Sunday afternoon runs are becoming quite the rage at Fletcher Park. Here’s Run for the Hills at 2:00 PM on May 2, 2010.
Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy is excited to host the Run for the Hills Fun Run at Fletcher Community Park in the Town of Fletcher. This event is designed to raise community awareness about local conservation and the Fletcher Greenway. Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels can participate in the Fun Run and all proceeds go toward saving the places you love.
This race is described as a fun run (aren’t all runs fun?) and they have used the term “non-competitive” but I think that’s just to encourage everyone to come out whether you’re running or walking. Just like all races the intent is a good time for people to get out and move around. There are awards for the top 3 females and males and for the first place finishers in each age group.
Here is the course map (click on the image for a much larger image) …

And a post-race hootenanny …
In addition to the 5K Fun Run, CMLC will also host a free family-orientated festival at Fletcher Community Park. Race participants can check-in for the race, and then enjoy the festival with their family before and after the race. The Finish-line Festival will feature various vendors and educational activities. Festival-goers can expect a fun-filled afternoon of fitness, music, and local conservation.
There is on online PDF you can fill out and print available here.
There is also a Paypal option you can more more about at the organizer website.
Thanks Billy. I noticed when I first read the background on this race it was positioned as “non competitive”. Glad it was enjoyable – Fletcher Park is a good place for it.
I ran this one on Sunday and it was great. Just so you know there probably won’t be any results as it was very very laid back (but very well organized). There was a clock for our convenience but as i went through the shoot they asked my age and since someone had already come through before my pedestrian 23:00 – i know i shouldnt have walked through the water stops but it was so damn hot – anyways they just sent me on. First place in ten year age groups got gift certificates but nothing else was recorded – as far as i could see. That being said it was a beautiful race and i wont hesitate to run it again.
