    It makes me feel a bit better to hear that it might have been long – i ran a 24 and some and i usually run a 22 and some 5k. Has anyone done a mapmyrun.com of the course?? i would but i cant remember the turns.

      Billy – here is the course map at USATF (USA Track & Field) that was created by the race organizers. You might want to look at this and see if it looks accurate.

      The 10k course had a lot of turns that were cut off making it look like 6.22 when it was, in fact, 6.43. But maybe there was a variation in the 5k that is not accurately represented here.

    not only was it hilly, i am thuinking it was over 5k. i just temo ran the super hero, but went all in for the most part on this one. 20:04? i dont know.. it was fun though! beautiful morning!

      I didn’t want to speculate on the distance without having run it but I’m sure you’re a good judge of it. I ran the 10k and it was 6.43. Congratulations.

    I can’t remember a 5K in Asheville where the winner didn’t break twenty minutes. This must have been tough!

      No doubt it’s tough. It has some of the Falafel course in it. Running down Kimberly to Country Club isn’t bad but then you run up Country Club to Griffing and then up to the top of the Rose Garden. The overall winner finished in 20:04. That same runner did the 2009 Super Hero 5k in 19:45 (also a tougher than average 5k).
