AGA is pleased to announce our first annual 5K Walk/Run to promote Colon Cancer Awareness on March 27th. Colon Cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death, with 1 in 19 Americans developing the disease during ones lifetime. I suspect that since this was a race “in town” it was probably one of the ACT photographers at the event. If that’s the case check out …

Does anyone have the web address for the photos that were taken on Saturday?
Over 450 registrations for this event. It was awesome, despite the two other races in the area on the same day. With police support and lots of volunteers everyone finished the course safe! Raised over $10, 000!
Very impressive turnout for a great cause.
Dennis, is there a race on Sunday the 28th? It’s not on the race docket. What is it?
Yes, Ken, there is a race on the 28th. It’s the Run for Paws 5k at Fletcher Park and it’s an afternoon race (1:30 PM). I have more info on the race and will blog about it tomorrow.
Hilly!
Months ago, I did a run out of the YMCA downtown that made a loop out of part of this course. I think the whole run was six miles or so. Some of the hills were really tough.
I know there’s not much traffic at 8 A.M. on a Saturday, but running on Biltmore Ave. still seems a bit scary.
I wish them luck, and it’s a great cause. So many have lost their lives due to colon cancer, and it makes sense that we should try to raise awareness and improve treatment.
It’s getting tougher to organize races on these more highly traveled streets in town. And this is going to be a challenging weekend to get turnout because there are two other races on Saturday the 27th, including the DuPont 12k that draws a lot of runners. And there’s another 5k on Sunday the 28th.
