Asheville Turkey Trot – November 26, 2009 – Carrier Park – Asheville, North Carolina
|
2009 results are now posted …
NOTE: Registration and packet pickup is at the race site (Carrier Park – just as it has been in past years) Wednesday 4-7 PM and Thursday morning 7:30 to 8:30 AM. There’s going to be about 1,000 runners and more spectators so it’s going to be crowded Thursday morning. Car pool, get their early or — run to the park. Parking will be challenging. Race day weather: about 42 degrees, slight chance of precipitation, winds 9 MPH.
There’s always a big turnout for the Jus’ Running Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00 AM. We’re expecting to see nearly 1,000 runners this year at Carrier Park for this race that represents a great way to start off the day. The course is generally the same as it was in 2008 (slight modifications) which was a big change from previous years that involved multiple laps within Carrier Park. This allows the crowd to stretch out — but make your moves early — I found last year that some single-file stretches made passing tough.
Online registration is closed so at this point if you’re not registered, show up for race-day registration on-site. Results are handled by Setup Events so you can be assured the highest quality and timely availability of race results. Here is a link to the course map …
Hope you’re better soon. I hope to get out faster than last year so I don’t get stuck in that single file stretch.

I have to skip this one due to the ITBS problem.
It looks like we’re headed out of town (not far, but too far to be at Carrier Park at 9 AM).
I echo your advice about making your moves early. If you want to run a fast race tomorrow at Carrier Park, get out of the blocks with a quickness. Run that first mile fast. You don’t want to be making up time in mile 2 and 3, when passing people is a major hassle.
Have a fun run!
