Great race and wonderful turnout.  I was accompanied by my wife Nancy (taking photos) and our two German Shepherd dogs (Gretchen and Sasha).  And they were (for the most part) “composed”.  Nice to see you all there!

    Great-now you’ll bring all the other fast folks!! There’s a nurse that works with Mel that’s training for the ACT Half who is interested, and I’ll check with some others, but it still may just be me that comes from this way!
    7:30 at the Grove Arcade…243-2092 is my cell if you need it.

    I don’t have anyone else lined up, but I’ll invite others. By all means — if you have other runners bring them on. It makes for a great run. It goes by so fast with a group! And I know the course like the back of my hand.

    I am so jealous-how do you two stay so slim and trim and eat so gloriously? Hope you enjoy the repast!!

    Bob – I’d love to run with you. I’m running for the miles. I had a good tempo run last week. If you’re up for it I’m thinking about going out at 7:30 from the Grove Arcade.

    Right now I’m enjoying the smell of French Cooking (mushrooms, butter, red wine). Nancy and I are foodies and passionate cooks, but we saw Julie and Julia yesterday and out comes the French cookbook! Nancy’s cooking up something great.

    This Sourwood 5k was a fun and challenging race.

    I only wish they had established an age group for runners 12 and under. As it was, Walter was competing in an age group with 13 and 14 year olds. For the most part, he can’t keep up with 13 and 14 year olds (yet). Still, he feels good about getting a PR on this course.

    Again, it was well run, and they had nice awards (honey!), and the woman who called out the names and times for the awards ceremony did a great job. I’ve run three races in Black Mountain now, and each one has been a blast.

    I did Springmaid…once. Hot August was closer, more fun (for me, anyway) and hotter!
    Cliffs is on SetUp Events, if I recall…
    Would LOVE to join you Saturday, but I have a thing about not dragging my running partners backward. I think you’d be frustrated at how slow I am…my long runs are at M pace plus 1, so I tend to do 10:30 miles, (11:00) for the hills (and there’s even the occasional walk break!).
    BUT, if you can tolerate it, I’d be happy to join you and any of your fast friends!! Feel free to say no, I can handle rejection! lol

    Yes, I’m doing the half. I’m not sure about Hot August night — I was thinking about the Springmaid Splash (same day). Chimney Rock — YES! I’m trying to make one or two of those Foot Rx races. I tend to travel almost every week for a couple of days mid-week, so it’s tough. I have to look into the Cliffs Valley 10.

    I was thinking about one more run through of the ACT half course next Saturday morning. Interested in joining me?
